As a social media consumer, along with millions of other individuals worldwide, we are constantly subjected to a diverse network of content, some of which can be harmful to us mentally. I wanted to create an artwork that visualizes the impact of social media and innovative "photo editing and altering" apps on consumers. In this piece, I took a photo of my reflection through a makeup palette's mirror. Using Adobe Photoshop, I added a defocused lights background and utilized the polygonal lasso tool to layer different filters and textures to illustrate how, as social media users, we can feel trapped and suffocated by unrealistic standards and the ever-changing trends in order to stay "relevant".
